Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Great graphics, music, story and adventure make Metroid Prime 2 my choice for
best game of 2004. Players of the first Metroid Prime will feel right at home
with this sequel, however there are allot of new moves and items that make this
game allot different then the original.
Worst Video Game:
Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure
A Zelda game is on my worst of list?? Is there something wrong with me? This
Zelda game is allot different then recently released Zelda games, like Ocarina,
and Wind Waker. This game take the series back to its bird eye view last seen
in the 1994's release of Zelda: A Link To The Past released on the Super Nintendo.
In fact this game looks, sounds and plays just as it did on the SNES, however
this time there are 4 Links at once, who must all work together to solve puzzles
and make it to Ganon. I put this game on my worst of list, because it is to
easy (didn't die once, even with Katie playing with me), the game is played
in stages sorta like a Mario game, (world 1-5 as an example.) and the quest
is only about 10 hours long. If the game had more challenge, and more replay
value after beating it, Zelda Four Swords Adventure would be a good game.
Best Movie:
Shrek 2
Allot of good movies came out this year, but the one that always sticks in my
mind is Shrek 2. If you saw the first Shrek, this one is basically the same
thing. Shrek 2 is not as good as the first movie, but yet it is very funny.
The best part of Shrek 2, is the new character, Puss N' Boots. Who could ever
forget those big black eyes. He looks so damn cute.
Worst Movie:
Alien Vs. Predator AND Anacondas
Just as I said there were allot of good movies this year, there was also a ton
of total crap movies. The main crap movie of 2004 is Alien Vs. Predator. A movie
that I have been wishing for since my early teens has finally come true. The
scary Aliens doing battle against the bad-ass Predator. How could this movie
be bad. Well it happened, and it was worse then bad. I knew this movie was going
to have problems after learning it was only going to be rated PG-13 after all
the Alien and Predator movies are rated R. This movie was so bad, after seeing
it a second time, I found it even worse then the first time seeing it and wanted
to just walk out. The "love" story between the main chick and the
main Predator was a bit to much for me. The other worst movie was Anacondas.
I enjoyed the first Anaconda movie, and was really looking forward to this movie.
Man, was I disappointed. This was worse then a direct to video movie. There
is only about 10 minutes of snakes in the movie, the rest of the movie is boring
storyline. If you saw the trailer for this movie, you are not missing much,
every scene that is in the trailer that has a snake, is all there is in the
movie as well.
Best News Story
Bush Re-elected
I thought hard about what could be the best news story of the year, but I just
couldn't think of any. Allot of crap happened this year, but none of it really
made me think it was the best of the year. So I just picked President Bush getting
re-elected for another 4 years as my top news story of 2004. Enough said.
Most Over-rated News Story
Janet Jackson @ The Superbowl
I am not even gonna spend to much time describing this one. Unless you
were on Mars you heard nothing except how Janet Jackson's nipple appeared on
live TV. This was so much of a big deal, I bet you don't even remember what
two teams were playing in the Super Bowl..
Best DVD Release:
Star Wars Trilogy
Finally, after years of waiting, the Star Wars Trilogy is out on DVD. The movies
look and sound so much better on DVD, that it is almost like seeing them for
the first time. You will see things that you never released were there since
the picture is so clear. They also added allot of new stuff to the movies. Some
are very small changes, and some are changes that the movies have been needing
for years, such as the light saber duel between Vader & Obi-Wan in Ep. 4.
Some of the changes link the classic trilogy with the new trilogy, such as Anikain
Skywalker from Ep. 6 being replaced with the actor who plays him in the new
movies. Allot of people don't like the changes, but I personally love them.
Worst DVD Release:
Passion Of The Christ
The movie itself is not the worst movie. In fact, Passion Of The Christ is one
of the greatest movies of 2004, but the DVD release was not as good. The DVD
includes NO extras. I can understand, and respect why that is. I feel there
are no extras, cause this isn't a movie that should be about extras, it is more
a serious story of Jesus and shouldn't be marketed to sell more copies with
extras. However, I would have like to seen some behind the scenes footage, and
making of the movie.
Best TV Show
Blue Collar TV
A lot of crap on TV this year. I am so sick of reality TV shows. I just want
fun shows that are really funny. And I found it with Blue Collar TV. Jeff Foxworthy
and Larry The Cable Guy I think are two of the funniest men alive. All there
Redneck jokes make me laugh so hard, I almost have to piss my pants sometimes.
Best Album
Green Day - American Idiot
Allot of good Albums came out this year, but the one that stuck with me this
year was Green Day's American Idiot. I recommend checking it out. Some other
good albums that came out this year are U2's newest, and Velvet Revolver's debut
album.
A Look Ahead To Next Year:
Next year is gonna be a great year for games, music and movies. Next year look
forward to seeing a brand new Legend Of Zelda game, the final chapter is the
Star Wars saga, Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, and Billy Corgan's first solo
album. These releases may very well be the best of 2005. Find out next year..
